Billy Mac


Billy Mac His voice is rich, powerful and recognizable. Billy Mac has a gift. His gritty and yet soaring vocals and his trademark “singer’s” songs bear witness to that fact. He lights up the stage and he brings down the house.

Billy Mac reaches into the audience and connects personally with his fans. The New Orleans Times-Picayune put it this way: “As his set progressed I found myself thinking of some of the great voice on record with the realization that this voice belongs in that company.”

It was Billy's great fortune to have been raised in New Orleans. There he grew up playing and singing alongside the legends of rhythm and blues, cutting his first tapes in the same studios that gave birth to the careers of Little Richard, Fats Domino and. Allen Toussaint. After graduating from Tulane University he turned down a law-school scholarship to study piano under renowned symphonic jazz composer, Roger Dickerson. Billy Mac's accomplishments won him writing and session playing stints in Muscle Shoals, Nashville and LA as well as successful runs performing at the Aladdin Hotel, the MGM Grand and the Rio Suite Hotel in Las Vegas, the legendary Edgewater Inn Hotel in Seattle and the notorious New Orleans Playboy Club.Billy Mac is a three-time recipient of The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Special Award to SongwritersHis first CD “Tales of Urban Romance” featured many of the songs he’ written for various artists as well as his own hit “The Other Side of Town.”

In 1998 he released his storied tribute to the game of golf, “Tee It Up.” The disc was a critical success and Billy has been honored by the Links at St. Andrews, Augusta National Golf Club and The First Tee Children’s Golf Charities among others. GOLF Magazine recently named his song “Augusta, Sweet Augusta” one of the Top 10 golf songs ever written.

It was in the company of greatness that Billy Mac developed his undeniably soulful sound and his talents have earned him success as a singer, songwriter, session player and performer. Billy has been at Chopstix Seattle location since the doors opened in November of 2003 and is a mainstay of the Chopstix Roadshows for corporate events. He says the best parts are the talented performers he gets to work with and the incredibly fun-loving audiences from 21 to 71 that come to party at Chopstix.
